Took the Plunge!

26026593_sBack in early October I wrote about Seasonal Help or Not? I decided to apply to a couple of places. Both places were a go as far as getting thru the application, additional testing, interviews with offers to move forward. I decided to move forward with the first one that made it official with a start date.

11/23 was my first day as a golf associate for Dick’s Sporting Goods. If you have read most of my posts or know me personally, working in a sports store would be a perfect fit for this semi-retired sports nut. I get to work and talk golf with customers all day. How can that be work? Will everything be peachy or rosy all the time? No! I get it, working with people can be difficult at times. I have been a customer all my life. I know what I like in a sales person and what I don’t. As I point out in my management training, “we all have had managers in our day. Take the good from the good ones. Make sure that you never do what the bad ones do.”

This is only seasonal work at the moment. It is probably around the busiest time of the year – Black Friday all the way up to Christmas and such. What better way to find out if this is for me or me for Dick’s Sporting Goods.

So, if you happen to be in the San Tan Valley Mall area in Gilbert, AZ and you happen to need some golf equipment – stop in at Dick’s Sporting Goods and look my up.

They have no idea what’s in store for them. Meaning Dick’s and the customers who will cross your path. Good luck! I’m sure you’ll have fun with it.
