Thursday’s Thought

Since I live in Gilbert, Arizona; where the average amount of daily sunshine is about 297 days a year… Our Thursday’s thought is – Why is not solar power used more?

I get it that back 8 years ago – it was costly to produce the panels. Well, that is not the case now. I get that we had plenty of the energy corporations that really did not want to lose some of the hold on us. Seems like that is letting up, some. I also understand that in the political space – we have some organizations and people that are fighting the alternative energy movements. They keep fighting it, but really look pretty stupid doing it.

So, why is it still not taking off faster? The overall cost to the homeowner is still too high! Who has the money to just pay for the equipment and installation? Leasing options – even though your ROI will happen, just takes time. Financing – again – time… Why can’t we get lower interest rates? Seems like a program that maybe our government maybe able to help…

Another thought – since new homes are being built everyday – when will a home builder, energy company and solar company get together to make a development that is completely solar based? Cost of installation will be wrapped into the house. The interest rates on mortgages seem better than after the fact financing. Any extra energy produced can be pushed to the grid and a rebate to the homeowners will be done every year (like around December 1st – so people can use it for the holidays)! Stimulating other economies…

I guess we just have a problem with moving away from our current usage. Wouldn’t it be better to move now, before a crisis happens?
