Dear 2016

49191319_sAn open letter to 2016 that I have been trying to figure out how to write it. For some this maybe funny… For some this maybe upsetting… For others they would really not care…

Dear 2016,

I am writing to you to ask your help in 2016. I know you probably get a few of these, but here is mine. Please see what you can do about making this happen in 2016…

Please make sure that the media is more responsible in 2016. We don’t need to hear about any individuals like these in 2016.

  • Anyone like Kim Davis. We don’t need to give any minutes of fame to someone that does not want to do her job for any reason. You get paid! Your view is so out of touch, that we don’t need to give you any more air time. Your latest after the “State of the Union” address should be your last. If the Republican party was responsible for having her be their spokesperson – well the Republican party is in trouble.
  • Any athlete that throws away his/her life for drugs, crime or domestic abuse. We don’t need to feel sorry for them. They had the tiger by the tail and let him go… So, we should just leave them alone. Larmar Odom and Lawrence Phillips come to mind.. Tragic stories – sure. There are more tragic stories about ordinary people that we should care more about.
  • Don’t spend one second discussing a gun man that went on a shooting spree. We just need to know it happened and the victims are more important. Giving any airtime to the shooter(s) just keeps the nuts coming.
  • Please make sure that we have easy access to correct information about our political candidates. Since our voters lack the discipline to educated ourselves with correct information – we need you to help us. It is amazing how you can listen to each news outlet and get a very different spin on what is happening. We need to stop the sheep mentality!

In 2016 let’s make sure that our hero’s are really upfront and center.

  • Our troops still need more attention when they come home. Way too many of them are living on the streets, suffering with little help and fighting everyday. The VA needs a complete overhaul or dismantling all together.
  • Please switch the focus onto our everyday hero’s – our police, fireman and teachers. It is about time that we stop attacking them. Treat them with respect that they position held in the past. Just like every other job there are bad apples. Let’s not make those bad apples the norm. Focus on the “good and great ones!”

Please help out our country!

  • Time for change in our political system. We all are sick and tired of the Republicans against the Democrats. We need to work together in 2016. If that means agreeing on a third alternative that moves us forward – it certainly is better than standing still.
  • Don’t let the negative ads become the focus of our next election. We need to know what the candidates are going to do – rather than the hate or negativity in the candidates.
  • Can you help out with making sure that we are more tolerant with each other? We can shout our mouths of our opinions and just smile. The time is now to stop forcing your views onto others. We need to smile more!
  • Bring back personal responsibility and accountability for our actions.
  • Stop political correctness. No more labels… See being more tolerant.

I know this seems like a long and difficult list to try and make happen in 2016. We have to start somewhere.

Thanks,

Steve
