Why I Enjoyed Coaching

For most of my adult life I have been a coach. I coached youth sports! I coached my employees at work. I really enjoyed coaching…

The other day, I was asked a series of questions about my coaching experiences.

Why did you coach?  Three reasons…

1. Coaching others gave me a great sense of satisfaction in teaching and watching others grow and develop.
2. Coaching was my way to give back.
3. Sharing my experiences (both good and bad) helps to rejuvenates me to want to continue.

What did you get from coaching?  I believe that coaching others helped me be better. It required me to do a better job of planning, teaching and follow-up with each and every situation. I was able to grow as a coach due to getting practice.

What was my hope for coaching?  When I was coaching youth sports – I had three simple things that I wanted for my players. We will work hard! We give it our all! We will have fun! My hope for my youth sports players is that they learned to work hard, give 110% and they continue to have fun. From a work standpoint, I had three simple things I wanted for my employees. We will be trained! Our word is our bond! We will have fun! My hope for my work employees is that they continue to sign their work with the signature and have fun. For each and everyone of them – nothing but success!
