Right Leaders Add Value To Their Team – How?

Team Leadership is not something that should be taken lightly. Close your eyes and think back to a time when you were having difficulties at 10600652_s (1)work within your work team? Can you remember how you felt? Do you still remember answering, “If only so and so did something about it?” Let’s switch away from the negative. Teams work their best when they have a leader that they can count on. That leader pushes them to grow and think differently.

How does that happen? From my experience the right leaders do a few things very well that makes their teams excel.

Cultivates Growth

Growing your team only helps to grow your organization. In my career, I have had a few boss’s that have helped me see, I should be learning and growing not only for today, but for the long term. I have tried to take that mentality forward with my teams. What is going to help your organization or company in the future? It will be those folks that are learning and growing that will take the organization or company forward.

Trust

Your team should be an extension of you, their leader. You hired, trained, coached and set a solid understanding of roles and goals… Trust them to do their job! Empower them to make their own decisions. Give them opportunities to be creative and expand their own skills. If you have been a reader of my blog, you will know that micro-managing and lack of trust are my hot buttons. No one likes to be micro-managed…

Being the Voice

The team can not speak for themselves. They need their leader to speak up for the team when needed. If the team is concerned over recent changes, you owe it to the team to take to upper management.  Your team and you are in this together. There is no separating the leader from the team when it comes to getting the necessary results.

Now, close your eyes again… Think back and remember a time that your team was really clicking. Everyone was working together, results were great and you enjoyed going to work. What was that make up of the team? Did you have the right leader at the top? I bet you did!
