Last year, I reviewed my blog stats to see how things went. I was pleasantly surprised by the results. This year, I decided to widen my review beyond my blog. So taking a look back on 2013 – here are my thoughts…
- Blog – I started out with every intention to write more than the year before. Well, that did not happen. I am trying to only post, when a topic really sparks me (one way or the other). I don’t want to post – just to post. Looking back at the data on views…
- Top posts written in 2013 – Story about my mom’s experience with Identity Theft when filing her taxes. #2 – Story about home to then and now. #3 – Story about my step-father-in-law’s Honor Flight to Washington DC. #4 – Story about the Brutal Reality of the job market.
- Volunteer work continues – This past year, I spent plenty of time volunteering at non-profits and a local elementary school. One non-profit in general has really consumed lots of my time – AZ4Education. I have learned so much from volunteering there. Being the marketing director has helped me gain valuable experience, that I did not have before. This past year, I picked up treasurer responsibilities – which gets you into the complete financial and audit world of non-profits.
- On the personal side, the family is doing well! Picked up an addition to the family with my son getting married. Watching the grand kids grow up is definitely a highlight everyday. Life is good!
Goals for next year… There are no new years resolutions. I like most people don’t like to make something that you know will stop shortly after you start. So, here are my goals…
- Continue to go to the gym! I made it the complete year last year with no real stoppage. Right now, going is a bit tough – as the gym has all of the new members that signed up due to their new year’s resolution. I give it till the middle of January – then the gym will be back to the regulars (and parking will get better).
- Looking at the data from my blog last year – I see a trend of readership. More folks are digging the stories! Time for more stories…
- One goal that is new – I plan on becoming gainfully employed this year. The past couple of years in semi-retirement have really highlighted my need to be active. Volunteering has been good, but there is still something missing… Time to fill that void. I miss getting up and going to WORK.
Did you like your 2013? I did! Could it have been better? Yes. We all know who controls making 2014 better – I do! So, take control…
